What we Believe

The menu to the left links to pages explaining in more detail our beliefs and practices as they relate to various aspects of the life of the church.

The confirmed basis on which the teaching and practice of our church rests is well expressed in a fair summary of the historic beliefs of the Christian Faith, given that the entire bible, God-breathed, infallible and inerrant is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We believe that such a summary is represented by the Shorter Basis of Faith of the FIEC, to which our church belongs, together with our own statement of beliefs broadly in line with this, and shortly to be published.

For those wishing to ‘locate’ us within the broad spectrum of Christianity past and present, we stand gladly in the line of historic Evangelicalism, (with all its imperfections), embracing the heart of Reformed theology and being essentially Baptistic in practice.

We regard the public teaching ministry of the church as the living expression of those beliefs, and our resultant church life and mission as the outworking of those same principles. It is only as we hear God speak, through his word, that we can be sure we are worshipping, working and witnessing in a way that honours him.
