Teaching

The Sunday services are deliberately structured to give both form and freedom. In the morning service, the emphasis is on systematic Bible teaching in the context of praise and worship, with opportunity for response in prayer and song. Children are encouraged to participate in all elements of the Service for which they are present. The teaching is carried out in two parts, the first of which is often interactive and provides opportunity for the children to get involved. Before the second part of the teaching, 3-5 year olds go to a class where they are taught in a way appropriate to their age. After the main preaching, there is often time to respond in reflection, song or prayer.

The structure of the service reflects the teaching aims. As God’s people we want to bring our heavenly Father praise and worship, with the Holy Spirit’s help, and honour and exalt the name of Jesus. We need to grow in our faith by feeding on the word of God, taught and applied. We need to encourage each other by meeting together and building one another up. We also long for the good news of forgiveness of sins and new life in Jesus to be made clear for those who may come in to our meetings unsure of what they believe. This may be not only directly in the preaching but also in the children’s session or in the songs and prayers.
